Asthma (from the Greek, ásthma, "panting") is a common chronic inflammatory disease of the airways characterized by variable and recurring symptoms, reversible airflow obstruction, and bronchospasm. Common symptoms include wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath.
Asthma is thought to be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Its diagnosis is usually based on the pattern of symptoms, response to therapy over time, and spirometry. It is clinically classified according to the frequency of symptoms, forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), and peak expiratory flow rate. Asthma may also be classified as atopic (extrinsic) or non-atopic (intrinsic) where atopy refers to a predisposition toward developing type 1 hypersensitivity reactions (allergic reaction.)
Treatment of acute symptoms (severe shortness of breath) requires medical attention. Standard treatment is usually with an inhaled short-acting beta-2 agonist (sue.g. salbutamol) and in most extreme cases with oral or even injected, corticosteroids. In very severe cases intravenous corticosteroids, magnesium sulfate and hospitalisation may be required. Symptoms can be prevented by avoiding triggers, such as allergens and irritants. The prevalence of asthma has increased significantly since the 1970s.
Asthma prevention and management involves balancing biochemical deficiencies, treating overworked adrenal glands, supporting and nourishing the bronchials with specific respiratory herbs and implementing dietary changes. Where possible environmental allergens need to be mitigated too.
There are some natural health remedies that may help benefit those suffering with asthma. These remedies may help alleviate the wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath associated with asthma.
Lobelia is a specific herb – 4 drops lobelia tincture under the tongue is effective in acute asthma onset - Nature’s Sunshine Lymphomax has this ingredient. Marshmallow contains mucilage which helps aid the expectorant influence of difficult phlegm and helps relax the bronchial tubes, while soothing and healing. It is valuable for all lung ailments and is especially good for asthma, and helps remove mucus from the lungs. It heals inflammation and prevents gangrene and other infections. Marshmallow is a great healing herb. Both garlic and wild oats are great herbal remedies for asthma.
I have had a cough for 17 years now and finally found a product that has reduced my coughing from 85 times a day to about 10. Changed my life only wish I had discovered this before hand. The taste takes some getting used to but well worth the initial suffering.
Feel more relaxed
I started using this product to prevent severe muscle cramps for which has been most effective, however an extra benefit has been better sleep,I wake up feeling more energetic and relaxed.
Didn't make a difference
I'm reviewing different Magnesium products for help with sleep and muscle relaxant. I liked that it was liquid and was open to the liposomal idea, but noticed no difference during the 1 month trial. I will be trialing several others and looking at different forms of Magnesium. Will not use this or recommend this one
