Dandruff Info

“Confession is good for the soul only in the sense that a tweed coat is good for dandruff - it is a palliative rather than a remedy”

Peter DeVries

Dandruff is the shedding of dead skin cells from the scalp. Dandruff should not be confused with a simple dry scalp.

As skin cells die a small amount of flaking is normal. Some people, however, experience an unusually large amount of flaking either chronically or as a result of certain triggers, which can also be accompanied by redness and irritation.

Dandruff is a common disorder of the scalp. After puberty, nearly half of the population will experience some form of it. It often causes itching. Cells in the scalp known as keratinocytes play a role in the expression and generation of immunological reactions during the formation of dandruff. The severity of dandruff fluctuates with seasons - it often gets worsen during the winter season. Most cases of dandruff can be treated with specialised shampoos. Unfortunately, there is no true cure.

There are natural health remedies that may benefit people with dandruff. Certain health products are specially designed to nourish the scalp skin and hair to reduce breakage and promote health. There are other natural health remedies available for this condition. Both coconut and Argan oil have been known to promote hair and scalp health. Rubbing olive oil into the scalp also appears to help alleviate the dandruff.

Love this oil! I use it mainly in smoothies and on salads. Since using this oil my skin isn't as dry as it once was.

  • Can't go without it

    star

The nicest tasting so far and in a large quantity of 900ml, I use it for everything... amazing on toast, cooking, moisturiser, and my dogs and cat go nuts for it so it must be good!

  • Didn't work at all

    star

Not only that this product didn't work at all, it also made my scalp even worse! I would not be buying this product again. So I'm now back to my usual (Sebizole) which works. And the lesson of the day - don't fix what's not broken.
