Weleda Haemorrhoidal Ointment helps relieve the discomfort of external haemorrhoids (enlarged varicose veins in the mucous membrane inside or just outside the rectum - also called piles).

Haemorrhoids produce varying degrees of pain, feelings of pressure, itching, irritation and a palpable mass. In women, the single most common cause is pregnancy.

Because of its astringent qualities, this ointment is also an excellent cream for itchy bites, etc.

Rationale: Aesculus (Horse chestnut): venous tonic helps tone the circulation system in venous congestion by improving the blood flow in varicose veins and haemorrhoids. Hamamelis (Witch Hazel) - its chemical make-up tones blood vessels, improving haemorrhoids and varicose veins. Borago (Borage) helps relieve venous congestion. Calendula (Marigold) improves varicose veins and haemorrhoids. Equisetum (Horsetail) is astringent and anti-haemorrhagic (due to Silica content). Essential oil of Rosemary has a stimulating and toning effect on blood circulation.

I have been suffering from Haemorrhoids, and I have used all sorts of cream but this one works best. It burns a little to begin with though. And also it leaves stain on the undies..

My wife had bad haemorroids which persisted, even after treatment with 2 different pharmacy products plus suppositories. Subsequently I got her this Weleda product from HealthPost. It got rid of the haemorroids completely. I would have given it 5 stars except that it is messy and does come off on underwear. although it does wash out. I had used other Weleda products myself and found they worked well for what they were designed for, which is why I decided to try this one.
