The combination of Iron & Vitamin C enhances the body's absorption of iron. Iron is involved in the formation of red blood cells. Helps to fight stress and fatigue.
Large intakes of tea and coffee, and antacids, can inhibit iron absorption. This supplement is helpful for: anaemia; low stomach acids; heavy menstrual bleeding; inflammatory bowel disease where blood is being lost in the faeces; vegetarian diet; and pregnancy.
IRON IS NECESSARY FOR:

FOOD SOURCES OF IRON:
Liver and lean meats, oysters, leafy green vegetables, egg yolks, molasses, apricots, sunflower and pumpkin seeds.
Each tablet contains:
Ferrous gluconate 170mg providing elemental iron 20mg
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) 40mg
Dose:
Adults: Take 1 tablet daily for normal requirements (preventative)
For therapeutic doses (e.g. anaemia) doses up to 5 tablets a day may be taken. The tablets should be taken after meals. If diarrhoea or constipation develop reduce the dosage of tablets.
Contra-indications:
Liver damage, excessive iron stores
Adverse effects:
Excessive iron causes liver damage and diabetes. Excess iron is stored in the pancreas, heart, adrenals and skin giving the skin a bronze colour. Men and post menopausal women should not supplement with iron unless blood tests indicate low iron levels.
