The simplest way to make a smoothie is to chop up fruit, put it into a base of a water, dairy or nut milk, add some nuts, seeds, oats, or leafy green vegetables, and blend. However, there are many other things you can add to take your smoothie to the next level, often enhancing the flavour in the process. These range from exotic fruits, superfoods and powders, various herbs, protein powders and more.

Fermented foods can add a probiotic boost. Green powders may add nutritional value, particularly where green vegetables are out of season or hard to source. Essential fatty acids such as flaxseed or fish oils can add critical macronutrients lacking in many modern diets.

    I have to run between the gym and picking up kids, so the protein boost in my Smoothie is perfect to keep me going. I feel my post workout recovery is much improved with the addition of Amazonia Raw. I found the distinctive taste and grainy texture difficult to begin with but am quite used to it now. Having experimented with different smoothie combos of sweeteners or fruits I'm finding a teaspoon of honey or a tablespoon of maple syrup really helps.
