    I bought this powder to use in a recipe for a raw, cacao-flavoured avocado mousse - it doesn't have a lot of flavour on its own, but adds a richness and creaminess, with an aroma and slight sweetness that is reminiscent of maple syrup. Although I'd see it more as a non-essential in terms of health foods, it noticably enhances the flavour of anything we add it to; it functions a bit like vanilla. We use it a lot in conjunction in smoothies, raw desserts and salad dressings, as it also seems to help thicken things.

    Maca is wonderful stuff. I take 1 teaspoon a day and notice a big difference in physical energy levels. I'm not sure how this brand compares with others, but I chose a gelatinised maca because I've had thyroid issues and read that raw maca can affect thyroid functioning.
