Super Foods Info

What are Super Foods?

Super foods are nutritional 'powerhouses' - nutrient dense whole foods rich in vitamins, minerals, enzymes and other nutrients we need for optimal health and well-being. They are generally packaged into supplement form while in a largely unprocessed state. This is because they're stand-alone nutritionally balanced foods, and typically just need to be dried or powdered for human consumption.

The range of super foods available is extensive and includes spirulina, chlorella, wheat grass, barley grass, bee pollen, royal jelly, kelp, acai, goji berries, chia seeds, maca root and many more. Each super food contains its own specific blend of naturally balanced health enhancing nutrients.

The following super foods have dedicated categories elsewhere on the site as follows:

Acai
Chlorella
Royal Jelly
Barley Grass
Kelp
Spirulina
Goji Berries & Juice
Wheatgrass
Chia Seeds
Maca Root

Super Food Benefits

While super foods offer a varied range of health giving properties, in general they are high in antioxidant value and promote cellular cleansing. They are a source of easily absorbed bioavailable nutrition, and some contain all essential nutrients needed for human health.

Super Food Side Effects and Contraindications

Because they are whole foods, super foods are generally considered safe when consumed as directed. Refer to specific headings for individual super foods to check precautions.

Product Reviews

  • Really helped with my allergy symptoms

    star

I have a teaspoon daily in my smoothie, and my allergy symptoms have definitely improved. I used to have several very dry, red, sometimes itchy patches on my arms and after a couple of days of the spirulina powder, they had cleared almost completely. My skin just doesn't seem to react as strongly to pollen or other irritants anymore. I definitely notice if I go more than a day without some, as my skin starts to get irritated and flares up again.

  • Bio Honey Honeydew Honey

    star

I purchased this delicious honey and like it for its antibacterial
properties. Honey Dew, in my opinion, is a highly underrated product - great
if you have a sore throat - add to drinks of lemon and honey, use in baking and
great on your toast. It never crystallizes, This is my favourite honey by far.

  • Not as good as I had wished for

    star

Had high hopes for this product, but doesn't seem to be delivering the results I had hoped for. Still a half decent product, but will probably opt for the Vital Greens next time instead. Quite a strong citrus flavour too, kids found it hard to enjoy, even with banana and berries added.
