Glucosamine Info

Glucosamine is a natural constituent of healthy cartilage and synovial fluid in the joints of the body. It is derived from glucose and the amino acid glutamine, and as we age we tend to produce less. Our bodies use glucosamine to build and repair cartilage, tendons, ligaments, synovial fluid and other tissues.

Glucosamine Benefits

We need glucosamine primarily for the healthy structure, strength and shock absorbing functions of our joints. Although glucosamine is produced by our bodies, our capacity to do this diminishes with age.

Glucosamine provides the raw material for our bodies to maintain and repair the components critical for healthy joint mobility and function. It is a beneficial therapeutic supplement in osteoarthritis, a degenerative disease of the joints of the body.

Glucosamine Side Effects

Glucosamine sulphate is in a different category to sulphur drugs and sulphate-containing foods, and will not cause a reaction in people with sulphate allergies. Because glucosamine is usually sourced from shellfish shells, people with shellfish allergies should naturally avoid these products. A vegetarian supplement is available (manufactured using no animal product). People with unstable blood sugar conditions are advised to consult a health practitioner before taking a glucosamine supplement.

  • Great stuff!

    star

I often wonder if supplements are actually doing what they say-this one certainly does! I notice the difference as soon as I stop taking this supplement...my knees let me know within a week!

  • Wouldn't be without this

    star

Can't remember if I have reviewed this before but here goes: I wouldn't be without this! It makes a huge difference. I started with 2 a day (and it does take 3-4 weeks to feel the difference) then was able to reduce to 1 a day. Each time I have tried to go off of it all the joint pain returns, but with the tablets I have no pain. I'm sold on this and can't recommend it enough

  • Bio availibility

    star

When I was reading about the concept of bio availability I was wondering if this was the problem I was having with the glucosamine capsules I was taking. They didn't seem to do anything. I have been using this powder for a couple of months now and my shoulder is so much better I can't believe it!
I am a 51 year old man who had a physical job for many years (electrician)and have had 3 cortisone injections in my shoulder over the last two years. The surgeon at Greenlane said I was too young to have shoulder surgery and he suggested glucosamine capsules. Forget the capsules, GET THE POWDER. Learn about bio availability!
