Glucosamine Supplements

Glucosamine is a natural constituent of healthy cartilage and synovial fluid in the joints of the body. It is derived from glucose and the amino acid glutamine, and as we age we tend to produce less. Our bodies use glucosamine to build and repair cartilage, tendons, ligaments, synovial fluid and other tissues.

Glucosamine Info

We need glucosamine primarily for the healthy structure, strength and shock absorbing functions of our joint health. Although glucosamine is produced by our bodies, our capacity to do this diminishes with age.

Glucosamine Benefits

Glucosamine provides the raw material for our bodies to maintain and repair the components critical for healthy joint mobility and function. It is a beneficial therapeutic supplement in osteoarthritis, a degenerative disease of the joints of the body.

Glucosamine Side Effects

Glucosamine sulphate is in a different category to sulphur drugs and sulphate-containing foods, and will not cause a reaction in people with sulphate allergies. Because glucosamine is usually sourced from shellfish shells, people with shellfish allergies should naturally avoid these products. A vegetarian supplement is available (manufactured using no animal product).

People with unstable blood sugar conditions are advised to consult a health practitioner before taking a glucosamine supplement.

Product Reviews

  • Excellent product, great results

I was persuaded of the mertis of green lipped mussel after seeing how well it relieved the obvious pain in our arthritic old dog. I've been using it for five years now. The pains and stiffness that were building up then in my feet and legs have all but disappeared. My feet in particular were so painful i sometimes had to walk flat footed and avoid bending them but now they are completely pain free.

I have been taking glucosamine for increasingly dodgy knees for 20 years, but this product only since discovering it 8 years ago. The boswellia is, in my opinion, the extra ingredient that puts this one ahead of all others. One in the morning and one in the evening gives great results, but be patient because it is not a quick fix "drug". I am 74 and hike 50 kms a week locally, building up for the Aztec Trial to Macchu Pichu in 2018. If I get slack taking these tablets my right knee lets me know promptly. In the meantime my wife, 72, who in earlier years was quite sceptical about glucosamine, suddenly found both knees were failing. Now if she misses taking Jointex Plus for only one day, she has knee troubles the next day. Brilliant joint health insurance for both of us.
