Propolis
Propolis is made by honey bees from resins & saps which they collect & then add special enzymes of their own to, making propolis. The bees use propolis to seal up unwanted gaps in the hive. This has the added benefits of increasing the structural stability of the hive, reducing vibrations & perhaps most importantly, preventing diseases & parasites from entering. Thus propolis is known as 'nature's best defence'.
With its high levels of flavanoids & its anti-bacterial & anti-fungal properties Propolis is one of the earliest bee products used by people as a medicine, with historical documents from the 4th century revealing that Hippocrates practiced apitherapy by recommending propolis as a treatment.
