Chromium Info

Chromium is an essential trace mineral important for maintaining blood sugar levels within the normal range. It is a central component of the glucose tolerance factor (GTF) molecule, a hormone-like compound that enhances insulin activity in moving glucose from the blood into cells. Because tissue sensitivity to insulin is increased, less insulin is needed, leading to reduced fat deposits.

Chromium is also needed for several liver functions including fatty acid, lecithin, cholesterol and lipoprotein metabolism.

Vitamin C and niacin (vitamin B3) both increase dietary chromium absorption, which is stored in the liver, spleen, soft tissue and bones of the body. Unfortunately, modern food processing methods destroy much of the chromium content of food. The typical modern diet, high in refined foods with added sugar, creates a chromium deficiency.

Chromium Benefits

Chromium supplements may benefit people who consume a high sugar diet, which leads to increased urinary excretion of chromium. Other factors that can reduce chromium stores are infection, strong exercise, stress, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Specific benefits of chromium include maintaining balanced blood sugar levels, controlling glucose and fatty acid metabolism, improving energy, managing food cravings and reducing the need for insulin (leading to improved arterial health).

People with diabetes types I and II, hypoglycaemia, sugar cravings, obesity, low energy or high cholesterol may benefit from taking a chromium supplement.

Chromium Side Effects

Safe when used as directed. Consult your health practitioner before taking if you are diabetic, hypoglycaemic, on medication, pregnant or breastfeeding.

Product Reviews

  • Really works

    star

I've been using this Product for about 7years now, and find they really help with PMS. And my mood overall is way more positive while taking them, I stopped for a few months just to test whether or not I needed them, and noticed I really did (even my husband asked if I had stopped taking my hormone pills!!!! So he noticed too) but you do have to take them everyday for them to work and I haven't noticed any side effects, so I highly recommend them.

  • Amazing for anxiety!

    star

I read this had helped some woman with anxiety and kind of assumed it wouldn't work as it was just a over-the-counter pill. After a couple of weeks i thought i noticed changes but nothing too exciting to report however after about 8 weeks i noticed a significant drop in my stress levels. I had tried Fluoxetine and other prescription meds to deal with the anxiety i get but none of them did much and most of the side affects on the prescription drugs outweighed any of the supposed pros. 30plus new woman has changed my life. My partner said im much more chilled now and open to doing more. I still am fairly anxious in general but no where near where i was before i discovered this pill. It took a while to kick in is the only con but it was worth the wait

This product is amazing. I felt changes in my mood from day 2. I'm generally happier and don't have such severe mood swings. My partner and children are especially grateful.
