Candida /Thrush Info

Candidiasis (thrush) refers to a fungal infection in humans, by any of the candida (yeast) species (Candida albicans is the most common one.) It is also referred to as a 'yeast infection,' candidiasis is also known as candidosis, moniliasis, and oidiomycosis. It can be very persistent if not recognised and treated early on.

Candidiasis encompasses infections that range from superficial, such as oral thrush and vaginitis, to systemic and potentially life-threatening diseases. Systemic candida infections are also referred to as 'candidemia' but are usually confined to severely immunocompromised persons.

Superficial infections of skin and mucosal membranes by Candida causing local inflammation and discomfort are common in many human populations. While clearly attributable to the presence of the opportunistic pathogens of the genus Candida, candidiasis describes a number of different disease syndromes that often differ in their causes and outcomes.

Symptoms of candidiasis vary depending on the area affected. Most candidial infections result in minimal complications such as redness, itching and discomfort, though complications may be severe or even fatal if left untreated in certain populations. In immunocompetent persons, candidiasis is usually a very localised infection of the skin or mucosal membranes, including the oral cavity (thrush), the pharynx or oesophagus, the gastrointestinal tract, the urinary bladder, or the genitalia.

There some natural health products that may help in clearing the candida infection. Most of these relate to colonising our gut and stomach with beneficial bacteria to restore the microbiological balance. Horopito (Pseudowintera colorata) is a great natural health remedy which may benefit those afflicted with candida.

Also, drinks and food containing yeast and sugar feed the yeast and should be avoided during an infection. Whilst taking some antibiotics can kill off the yeast, they also non-specifically target the 'good' bacteria that keep the yeast in check - so it's a double edged asword. Avoid humid sweaty conditions, whether climate, synthetic clothes or running shoes as they can exacerbate an existing infection and also create the perfect conditions for a new cadida infection.

Product Reviews

  • I was unsure but it definitely works

    star

    Hi,
My stomach is definitely not great especially if I have a few drinks on the weekend and I do like spicy food. It has been like that for years.
I tried this with a probiotic and after a month or so I would have to say I am 150% better.

I will not stop, this is part of life now.

    Glad I found it

  • This works!!

    star

After using oregano oil for sometime with some but little effect, I was recommended this product but my naturopath to treat an unbalance of candida in my gut. After 4 days of using this product I was getting intense die off reaction and it was a bit overwhelming for my body, however I was ecstatic that I was finally getting the upper hand on this problem as I had been battling it for months. I dropped down to taking this every second day and the die off symptoms were much more tolerable, I highly recommend using this product in conjunction with a good probiotic, as you need to replace the good while you remove the bad if you are using this for a gut imbalance.
Highly recommend this product, it has helped me immensely!

  • Good to pair with IUD

    star

I have an IUD and although it's great, one of the downsides is I've become more susceptible to yeast infections. I've found this product very good at preventing them, so glad I came across it!
