Incredibly cacao has up to 40 times the antioxidants of blueberries. Flavonoids, which are plant-derived antioxidants are also abundant in cacao. It contains a pretty generous amount of magnesium and is also one of the highest plant-based sources of iron.
Making a warming cacao drink is easy. We like to mix 1 tablespoon of cacao powder, ½ tablespoon of coconut sugar, a pinch of vanilla bean powder, plus a pinch each of cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg and mix with a splash of boiling water to make a paste, then top with hot milk, stir and enjoy.
