We do our best to eat well and spend time outdoors through the winter, but as the feijoas fade and the sunlight dwindles, we often reach for a little extra immune support. I encourage the kids to tune in to how they’re feeling and to notice when their bodies might need a boost.
There are a few favourites we come back to each year, and they’re much more likely to take things they enjoy - especially now they’ve started noticing how certain products help them feel better. Here are Isla’s (11) and Leo’s (9) thoughts on some of their go-to immune helpers this season:
Leo:

“I take fish oil because Mum tells me it’s good for me. I like these ones the best because they’re easier to swallow and they’re strawberry flavoured. I take them in the morning after my breakfast.”

- Soothes a dry, tickly throat
- With vitamin C & zinc for immune wellness
- Scientifically studied formula
“If I have a sore throat when I wake up in the morning I have one of these. They taste quite good and they help me to fight off colds. I take them especially in winter.”

- Tasty tonic to uplift your day
- With warming ginger, turmeric & mānuka honey
- Made in a solar-powered juicery
“This tonic tastes like ginger so it might be a bit spicy for some kids but it really helps me. It’s like a lemon and honey drink. Mum gives it to me with my lunch when I’ve got a cold and it helps with a sore throat.”
Isla:

- For energy, vitality & immune wellness
- Highly bioavailable vitamin & mineral nutrition
- Ethically sourced in South Island, New Zealand
“I sprinkle bee pollen on stewed fruit and yoghurt on winter mornings. It tastes delicious and it gives me an energy boost for the day. I much prefer it to swallowing capsules.”

- Soothing essential – enjoyed warm or cold
- With native NZ herbs elderberry & manuka
- Delicious, Kiwi-made tonic
“This tonic soothes my throat and warms me up. It tastes good and helps me to drink more water, which I need to do when I’m unwell.”

- Supports a happy mood & immune system
- High-dose vitamin D3
- Delicious mango chewables
“I take these in the winter months because they’re tropical-flavoured and bring me back to summer days! They help keep me strong, well and happy when there’s not much sunlight.”
