Magnesium Info

As one of the macro minerals required in large quantities by our bodies, magnesium is quickly used up during periods of stress. Two thirds of our body’s magnesium is stored in our bones and one third in skeletal and cardiac muscle. There are many demands on our magnesium supply which is involved in over 300 essential biochemical reactions. Among these, magnesium has vital roles in cell membrane function, DNA and RNA replication, protein synthesis and stabilising nerve function.

For good bone health and prevention of osteoporosis the earlier you lay down adequate magnesium in the skeletal system the better, so optimum magnesium intake during pregnancy is important. Most people living a modern 21st century lifestyle with all its attendant stressors have some degree of magnesium insufficiency. Because we use magnesium up quickly, we need to continually replenish our reserves and often we are temporarily in deficit.

Magnesium Benefits

Maintaining adequate magnesium levels helps prevent cardiovascular disease, kidney stones, gallstones and some forms of arthritis by improving calcium removal from soft tissue, thereby reducing plaquing and stone formation.

Asthma, migraine onset, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, depression, anorexia, allergies and chemical sensitivities, ADD, hearing loss, some eye disorders, temperomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ), SIDS, premature ejaculation and scar formation are all conditions linked to magnesium deficiency by various research studies.

Any form of prolonged stress and conditions such as heavy menstruation, irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, pancreatitis, hyperthyroidism and kidney disease are all indications for magnesium supplementation.

Magnesium Side Effects

If you have seriously impaired kidney function, magnesium supplements may lead to dangerously high plasma concentrations of magnesium, and may therefore be contraindicated. Consult your health professional.

I use this most nights. I find that it helps with muscle relaxation and sleep. I have a trigger finger which locks up very easily. Now that I am using this product that locking is vary rare. I also haven't had leg cramps for months. The flavour is ok, better than the natural flavour anyway. I highly recommend this magnesium powder.

I get chronic cramp in my legs at night making sleep very broken until a friend referred me to magnesium cream. I was taking magnesium tablets but this cream far out ways tablets or capsules. Words cannot explain the instant relief I get when rubbing this cream directly to the affected area. I now use it on my back when it is sore with the same result. Because you are putting it directly on the area needed, I think, that is why it works so well, I have referred magnesium cream onto a few people who have had similar, if not the same, results, give it a go, truely worth every cent (& that's not much!!)
