Soy Protein Powder Info

Soy is a plant in the legume family, originating in the Asian continent and part of the traditional Asian diet in the form of popular foods such as edamame, tamari, tempeh and soy sauce. It has become increasingly popular in the Western world in recent decades as an easy to grow source of protein, particularly for vegetarians and vegans, who may struggle to include enough protein in their diets.

Protein is an essential macronutrient required for healthy muscle growth and repair, and the function of every organ in our bodies. Protein powders are an easy way to increase ones’ intake, and our selection of soy protein powders include a number of flavours, as well as plain powder for those who wish to include it in smoothies or other foods without altering the flavour. A superfood smoothie blend with numerous other nutrient-rich foods to increase the nutritional density and pack a powerful antioxidant punch.

Product Reviews

  • Nice, smooth protein powder

I use this powder a lot and having tried lots of powders this is by far the least sickly sweet, non whey powder I've come across. It mixes really well with fruit and is actually ok on its own with just water, too. It's low carb and quite pleasant to drink.

  • Good product but not sure about quality recently

I have been taking RED8 soy vanilla protein powder for about 10 years - to help with building neurotransmitters for depression. Basically helps lift my mood, (especially when followed by a serving of potatoes for some reason!). This is my favourite flavour, and I use soy because it's slow-releasing unlike whey, and meant to be GE free, and only uses stevia as a natural sweetener which doesn't cause blood sugar fluctuation. It's smooth as long as you mix it in one direction into water, not water into it. I have to agree with a previous reviewer - RED8 used to feel like a high-integrity, high-quality product and company, but after finding fault with the product one day I found out that it was bought out by Thompsons. I agree that the product has changed for the worse, as well as the customer service. It's still a very good product, but I think as a long-term customer it's definitely not as great now. If I saw a smaller company with a good product and greater integrity I would probably be prepared to switch.

  • liked and good in smoothies

loved this, tastes great in fruit smoothies which is usually the only way i can stand protein powders, doesn't add too much of a weird texture which is great too
