Laura, Solid's founder, is an oral health therapist turned toothpaste formulator. Frustrated with all the plastic waste she saw in the dental industry she decided that there must be a better way.
Their toothpaste, toothpaste tablets, toothpaste powders and more are vegan, cruelty free and palm oil free. Solid also run a bottle reuse programme where their glass bottles and jars can be returned and reused.
Solid’s vision is everyday kaitiaki (guardianship). A world where everyone understands the impact of, and takes responsibility for the decisions they make every day. They know the challenge of climate change is a big one, but your choices matter and together, we can make a difference.
Solid is a values-based business focused on kaitiakitanga (guardianship), innovation and positivity.
Some things they're really proud of:
- Saved 35,000 toothpaste tubes from landfill.
- Solid manufacture their toothpaste right here in Aotearoa.
- 15 percent of their jars are returned for reuse and they have pioneered instore toothpaste refill.
- They've measured and offset the carbon produced by their business operations. This supports a forest in Hokitika and protects and ensures the biodiversity of Aotearoa.
