Herbal doesn’t mean safe

I took this on advice of my relative who’s a midwife

I had a healthy pregnancy. No dramas. Perfect report cards, but I wanted as efficient a labour and delivery as possible and was advised in later stages to take this, and red raspberry leaf tea by my sister in law who is a midwife. 1 week in, my blood pressure started creeping up, to the point I was taken in to hospital with suspected preeclampsia a week prior to my due date. I also got Bells Palsy in my face. I didn’t want to be induced so begged the hospital to let me out to relax before I saw if I could go into labour myself, I told them about the herbal supplements I took and said can we see if I stop, if that makes a difference. Within 2 days my BP started dropping to safe levels again and I was in labour 3 days after. This stuff has Black Cohosh in which is used to dispose of unwanted pregnancy in early stages. It’s also not for use for people who are close to being pre/or hypertensive. For the record after all the talk of dilation and efficient labours, I ended up 16 hours later with an emergency c section for failure to progress. Weigh up your options and if this is your first baby, let your body try it’s own way first. Maybe it wasn’t the pills that helped, maybe your body just did it’s thing well.
