Nature's Sunshine Blessed Thistle (Cnicus Benedictus) is an annual flowering plant that was originally found in the Mediterranean, it is a hardy plant that grows well in stony ground. It is thought that the name ‘Blessed’ refers to the herbs powerful healing powers.

Blessed thistle is probably most commonly known for its support for breast milk supply. And while it is not recommended for use during pregnancy it is commonly used during lactation. In the herbal world, Blessed Thistle is classified as a Galactagogue, a herb that supports the normal production of breast milk.

Blessed Thistle can often be confused with its close relative Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum), and while they both share the ability to support liver function the other actions they offer are quite different.

Blessed Thistles bitter quality means it has the ability to support digestive function. Due to its stimulating effects on gastric juices it has the ability to support normal appetite, while calming actions can help to support an upset digestive system.
