Pacific Harvest Garlic Furikake is a twist on the Japanese condiment, Garlic Furikake combines 5 seaweeds to produce a nutritious condiment for a wide range of culinary applications. Furikake seasoning is a tasty, flaky & colourful condiment combining seaweeds from different colour groups, sesame seeds and natural garlic.

Furikake means 'seasoning' in Japanese. Pacific Harvest Furikake is formulated to preserve the idea of the traditional Japanese seasoning without the use of animal products, sugar or MSG.  A good salt alternative for those trying to reduce sodium, it has a salty taste with a fraction of the sodium in salt and a much better balance of other essential minerals.

This tasty, flaky and colourful condiment combines 5 seaweeds, is vegan and combines the nutritional profiles of sea vegetables from different colour groups; it makes it easy to eat a variety of seaweeds with different benefits.

The various seaweeds in Furikake are sourced from New Zealand and overseas; they are all tested for contaminants.
  • Seaweed generally and Kelp especially are a rich source of natural iodine. 
  • Each specie has a unique level of iodine so please consult the label to determine serving size. 
  • In NZ the RDI (recommended daily intake) for iodine is 150mcg.
  • Consume in small quantities to stay within the RDI for iodine. 
  • People with thyroid disorders or sensitivities to iodine should consult their health practitioner before consuming this product.
Use: as a condiment or a garnish.
It is perfect sprinkled on rice and salads, an excellent seasoning to use during cooking for fish, seafood and poultry, and fantastic on vegetables before roasting or after grilling & steaming.  It also makes a wonderful statement on creamy soups and gives taste & colour to savoury baking, cheese truffles, spreads (like hummus) & casserole dishes.

Try Garlic Furikake on stir-fried prawns!  
For those who know dukkha or gomasio, Furikake is something similar which features seeds instead of nuts and has the same advantage as gomasio to further the salthy taste with a fraction of the sodium.
