A good alternative to a antidepressant
I work in a very stressful, shift work and on-call job, and as a result I began to use a prescribed antidepressant. I came off antidepressants for one year but found I needed them again due to work stress and sleep deprivation. I have now weaned myself off antidepressants for a second time because of the side effects. I am now taking a 1:10 ratio of 5HTP and L-Tyrosine. My personal research tells me that if you don\'t take them together you can end up increasing dopamine but also depleting serotonin. My mood has stabilised a lot and I am sleeping better. I take them both in the morning or during the day so that they do not keep me awake at night. My friend at work commented that she thought I was back on antidepressants because I was looking so much happier.
