What are your top 3 tips for creating healthy habits?
  1. Slow and steady wins the race.
It's the small consistent changes that make the biggest difference when it comes to our health. People very rarely succeed at maintaining a new habit when they jump in boots and all so start with one change and stick to it for a month. If your new habit feels easy to do and you think you can maintain it whilst adding in another - move onto the next habit you want to foster.

  2. Habit stack where you can.
New habits stick better when we add them to existing ones - simply because there is a habit already in place. A simple example of habit stacking is adding a glass of hot lemon water to your morning hot drink habit.

  3. Healthy swaps make habit change easier.
Rather than deleting an existing habit, simply swap it for a healthier option that gives you similar benefits. For example, if your current habit makes you feel social and breaks up your day, swap it for a healthier one with the same benefits. I.e. swap your social smoking/vaping habit for a quick walk with a friend. This replaces a social outdoor interaction with another - minus the cigarette/vape.
What is your favourite way to keep your microbiome happy every day?
Eating lots of different plants - A healthy human microbiome is one that is rich and diverse. This means that to have a healthy gut, we need to feed a diverse array of species and provide each species with enough food to thrive. To achieve this we need to feed our internal microbial rainforest a wide variety of plant matter - nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruits, grains, and fresh herbs and spices.

Finding new and exciting ways to add a variety of plants to my meals is an ongoing challenge for me. Join me on my quest and set yourself the challenge of seeing how many different plants you can consume in a week - go seasonal, keep it real and try something new that puts your tastebuds outside of their comfort zone.
What wellness trend are you most excited about this year?
Finally, menopause is having its moment - and it’s about time! I am thrilled to see the rise of awareness and support for those going through the menopausal transition. The conversation on periods has really started to take off and I am excited to see the conversation on menopause do the same. It’s time to lift the taboo on women's wellbeing and start celebrating hormonal milestones.
What are your daily non-negotiables to feel balanced and calm?
My life is one big jukebox - singing, dancing and moving to music are my daily practices that help me to find my inner calm. As strange as it may sound- these creative activities have been shown in the literature to soothe stress and add joy into our lives.
