It’s time to come out of hibernation
If over the last few cold, wet months you’ve been feeling sluggish — like everything is on a go-slow — then it’s time you gave yourself a wake-up call. You may not be able to control the weather, but you can control your level of health & wellbeing by what you choose to put into your body.
You don’t have to bear the burden alone
Back when we lived in caves, our bodies were designed to be self-cleansing. Now, unfortunately, we are overwhelmed by pollutants (from sprays and chemicals in cleaning products) and toxins (like caffeine, cigarettes and junk food), and many of us are significantly depleted in health-providing nutrients. This puts an unnecessary burden on your gut, liver and kidneys. These issues also interfere with other processes in your body such as your digestive function and nutrient storage.
Note: In addition, you also produce your own toxins. These are a normal byproduct of our metabolic processes.
Toxins impact our health in a variety of ways. You may feel lethargic or not be able to concentrate. You may suffer from recurrent headaches or have aching muscles. Everyone processes and eliminates toxins in a unique way, which is why there is such a range of potential symptoms. It therefore makes sense to have a range of good quality detox solutions available. This way there is sure to be one that not only suits your specific health objectives, but also suits your lifestyle and budget.
A good detox program will:
- Be tested and certified for quality.
- Instruct you on a health promoting diet and recommend other supportive lifestyle changes.
- Require that you commit to a number of weeks of cleansing.
- Take you through the different stages of detoxification.
It will ensure you wean off ‘bad’ foods to minimise unpleasant side-effects, and that you improve your digestive, liver & kidney function before you start to release toxins.
- Be flexible and allow you to purchase individual products separately.
This enables you to support a particular organ function, such as your liver or kidneys, without having to complete the full program. It also allows you to continue taking any products that you found especially beneficial.
Foraging around in a harsh reality
The plants have learned to adapt, and so must you. Plants produce a variety of bioactive molecules to protect themselves in their unique environment. By consuming plants & herbs, you are afforded the same protection from your environment as they are. To improve your health status, not only should the majority of the produce you eat be locally grown, seasonal and/or organic, you should also use more native herbs to ‘arm yourself’ against the pollutants in your unique environment.
Rise and shine
Correct detoxification is a foundation of natural health. Cleansing helps the body to operate optimally. This may help to improve the appearance of your skin, promote proper digestive function, balance your immune system, increase your energy, enhance your cognition, and help you to generally feel better physically, mentally, and emotionally. You should aim to perform this ‘conditioning service' on your body 1–2x per year (ideally in spring & autumn).
And, as it would happen – spring is finally here.
So, what are you waiting for? Its’ time to get up and going lazybones:)
