Where does the royal jelly come from?

It is widely known that bees produce honey and bee pollen. However, Royal Jelly is another remarkable substance produced by worker bees within the hives. In appearance it is a thick, sticky white substance that is secreted from the pharyngeal glands located on the tops of the worker bees heads. The purpose of this nutritious substance is simply to feed all bee larvae for the first three days of their life so they reach their maximum development with an impressive weight increase of approximately 250 times. Royal Jelly is the only food that is fed to the Queen Bees. It is therefore believed that this substance is the key to the Queen Bee’s longevity, size and stamina, boosting her growth rate and extending her life span. The average life span of a Queen Bee is between four to five years in comparison to worker Bees who only live for approximately forty days. Queen Bees are an astounding 50% larger in size and weight.

It’s only possible to cultivate Royal Jelly from the Queen Bee’s larvae cells due to their large storage of Royal Jelly because it’s stored faster than the Queen Bee larvae can consume it. It’s estimated that it takes six months to produce approximately 500 g of Royal Jelly. When collected Royal Jelly is highly perishable and must be stored in a cold area. Often beeswax or honey is added to Royal Jelly to aid its preservation.

Royal Jelly is a rich source of highly concentrated nutrients providing proteins, at least eight amino acids, carbohydrates, fatty acids including 10-Hydroxy-2-Decenoic Acid (also known as 10-HDA). This active fatty acid is thought to balance the immune system and support anti-cancer activities according to recent studies. Royal Jelly also provides a complex of vitamins A, B, C, and E, minerals Calcium, Copper, Phosphorus, Potassium, Sodium, Sulfur, Silicon, Iron, Chromium and Manganese, enzymes and trace amounts of hormones. Although some of these nutrients are in very small amounts they combine to form a natural super food that is easy and gentle for the body to absorb, making it a suitable supplement for all ages.

Royal Jelly offers broad spectrum health benefits making it an excellent supplement to support overall health and vitality. It has been traditionally known for supporting skin health and anti-ageing. It also supports the immune system increasing the body’s resistance to infections; providing a tonic for the nervous system; supporting cardiovascular health including hypertension and atherosclerosis, prevents abnormal blood clotting and supports healthy cholesterol levels. Royal Jelly is beneficial for those suffering from low energy levels and fatigue, increasing energy, stamina, endurance and overall vitality.
